Transport Canada Announces Billy Bishop Public Consultations

Transport Canada has announced the launch of public consultations on the future of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. This will help inform the Government of Canada on the priorities of Torontonians, Ontarians, and Canadians as it relates to any potential changes to the airport and Toronto’s waterfront.

The public consultations will run from today to July 24, 2026. This is an open consultation process, with no decisions made at this stage. This consultation process will ensure that Toronto residents, other Canadians, Indigenous groups and stakeholders are heard. Important issues have been raised including transportation, economics, environmental considerations, noise, housing, and quality of life in surrounding communities. The feedback received through this process will play an important role in informing the Government of Canada’s decision-making moving forward.

Opportunities to participate will include an online survey and engagement sessions, as well as direct engagement with Indigenous groups. Transport Canada will also solicit the input and advice of expert organizations like Waterfront Toronto and others, to help inform next steps.

Please see Transport Canada’s Release here.
