Changes to Mail Delivery in Etobicoke North

We would like to share an important update regarding upcoming changes to mail delivery in Etobicoke North.

Canada Post has advised that parts of our community within the M9W and M9V postal code areas will transition from door-to-door delivery to community mailboxes. This decision has been made by Canada Post as part of a nationwide effort to modernize operations and address ongoing financial pressures, including reported annual losses of approximately $1.57 billion. This decision is being made in order to help preserve reliable mail service for Canadians while reducing the burden for taxpayers. The change is expected to take place in November 2026 or early 2027.

We understand that a change like this can raise concerns, especially when it comes to convenience and accessibility. As this process moves forward, there are a few important things residents should know.

  1. Mailboxes will be placed close to residents and locations are being carefully selected to ensure they are safe and accessible. Exact locations will be confirmed as consultations continue. Our office will also be engaging directly with residents to gather feedback and raise any concerns with Canada Post so that community feedback is reflected in final decisions.
  2. Support and accommodation is available for residents with mobility or accessibility challenges. Canada Post offers accommodation options, including alternative delivery arrangements where needed. Our office will work with individuals on a case-by-case basis to help navigate these supports. We will provide more information on the accomodation program as we receive it.
  3. Buildings with existing mailrooms, such as many apartment complexes, will continue with their current delivery arrangements
Canada Post will be reaching out directly at key stages, including when locations are confirmed and before any delivery changes take effect, so residents will receive clear and advance notice.

Throughout this process, our office will remain actively engaged with Canada Post to advocate for practical placement, strong communication, and an approach that accommodates the needs of our community. More information will be provided in the coming weeks.

If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here to support residents and ensure this transition is as smooth and fair as possible.
